About Quito
Quito is the capital city of Ecuador, sitting at 9,350 ft. above sea level, it is the second highest capital city in the world. Quito is in the Guayllabamba river basin in the Andes mountains. Quito is also a few miles south of the equator, but there is more on that to come. It is the second most populated city in Ecuador, 2,671,191(2011), only to Guayaquil.
Many people have never heard of Quito let alone would think to travel there, but it is a true gem in South America. Down its historic streets and up it steep hills is a city that is alive and well, and for the people who want to discover the world and see what things are like elsewhere for themselves.
